5 Reasons to Move to Wainfleet, Ontario

Where is Wainfleet?
Wainfleet is in the Niagara Region, about:
- 90 minutes from Toronto
- 30 minutes from Niagara Falls
- 30 minutes from the Buffalo border
It’s a small community spread over a large area, home to about 6,500 people, and it’s all about farming.
5. Country living
There’s a reason Wainfleet’s motto is “Find Your Countryside.” You’ll find cash crops like corn and soybeans, dairy, beef and poultry farms, and plenty of produce. With all that farmland comes space between you and your neighbours and fresh country air.
What counts as a traffic jam in Wainfleet? Waiting for your neighbour’s cows to cross the road, or the occasional train.
4. Amenities
For a small township, Wainfleet has more amenities than you’d expect:
- A local general store where you can get just about anything, and great local pizza
- About 15 minutes to grocery stores in Fonthill, Welland and Port Colborne
- About 30 minutes to Costco in St. Catharines or Niagara Falls
- Primary schools in the township, with high schools serving the area
- Niagara College nearby in Welland and Niagara-on-the-Lake, and Brock University in St. Catharines
- Excellent paramedic and fire services
3. Recreation and leisure
- The Wainfleet sports complex, with baseball diamonds, tennis courts, soccer fields and the arena
- The Gord Harry Trail, about 13 km of scenic trail
- Skating on the Feeder Canal when it freezes over
- Local events like the Marshville Heritage Festival, the Wainfleet Fall Fair, a Santa Claus parade and holiday fireworks

Compared to a detached home on a small city lot in Toronto, Wainfleet can get you over an acre of land for far less money. It’s a lot more house and land for your dollar.

Wainfleet has some of the best beaches in the Niagara region, with sandy shores along Lake Erie. Stick your toes in the sand, soak up the sun and enjoy the view.
